Cocker Spaniel

Buddy My Son.

We got Buddy from an animal shelter.

He was so loving and immediately wanted to be with us.

He was approximately 5 years old when we got him.

My husband and daughter wanted a dog not just any dog but

a cocker spaniel. So my husband went out looking

and found Buddy.

The first few weeks he did anything to get my attention.

He became my dog. my first dog at the age of 34.

I began calling him my son. He was such a happy and playful dog

but he didn’t like to do any tricks. I did get him to roll-over.

Buddy became a part of the family. Baby Danielle was born 6 years later.

Buddy was so patient and he loved the baby. He loved all of us.

Buddy brought so much happiness and life to our home.

He was a special pet he was almost human and was never sick.

One day Buddy went to see the Vet because he had a “hot spot” the

common problem of dogs. Then the vet found a lump on his side.

We made an appointment to get x-rays. Suddenly Buddy became very sick

he was very weak lost weight and couldn’t have a bowel movement.

I knew that he was very sick by the look in his eyes.

We took him back to the vet who agreed that Buddy was very sick

he suspected liver failure. We rushed buddy to the animal hospital,

where they did the x-rays and blood work.

Buddy’s prognosis was not good. He had multiple problems and

more than likely the lump was cancer.

I was shocked and heartbroken I never had a thought that I

would lose him now. This was hard to believe so devastating that we

didn’t realize he was sick. Buddy must have had the will to hang

on to life as long as he could.

The early morning of September 27 2000 my son,

Buddy was put to sleep because there was nothing that we could do

for him and I didn’t want him to suffer.

I miss him terribly I miss Buddy’s kisses and him waiting for me to come

home nothing is the same the house seems empty just as my heart is.

My 2 years old Danielle calls for Buddy my husband Danny told her

that Buddy went to heaven.

I will cherish the memories of Buddy forever.
