Dear Barney,

You came to live with us when you were eight weeks old, that was back in March 1990. For 16 years you have given us so much love, you have always been there for us when we haven’t felt so great. You were and always will be the sweetest natured dog and best friend anyone could wish for and we are so lucky to have had you in our lives.

A couple of years ago, you were diagnosed with Cushings Disease; it was kept under control by medication but for a while the medicine affected you quite badly but then you seemed a lot better, but as time went on you also then developed alzheimers disease. You were still a happy little soul and loved your family, food, playing with your toys, but sometimes you didn’t seem to know where you were..

Then out of the blue on Wednesday 29th March this year, you were sitting beside me in the car and you yawned and I saw something in your little mouth that we had no idea was there as you showed no signs of anything else being wrong, so we took you to the vet and he told us that it was a tumour. You had to go in the next day for tests; they told us that the test results would be back the following week, so Dandan and I left you at the surgery expecting to collect you a bit later.
After a couple of hours the vet rang
with the saddest news that it was cancer.

We had to make the hardest decision that we have ever had to make, but with the cushings and alzheimers we couldn’t possibly put you through any more, you were such a brave boy.

We asked the vet to wait until we got there. When we arrived he brought you into us, you were still asleep as he said you would have been in pain from the tests they had carried out.We all kissed and hugged you and told you how much we loved you and then asked him to gentky send you to Rainbow Bridge.

We then took you to have a private individual cremation and we have your ashes in a beautiful little carved box on our table. That day was the worst day of my life, and my life hasn’t, and will never
be the same without you.

We will all carry you in our hearts forever Barney. I hope you have found Ben and Blue there to play with, so I know you are not lonely.
Wait at the Bridge for us sweetheart, and one day we will all be together again. God Bless You- We will love you forever.

Sleep Peacefully Barney- Our Guardian Angel,
