Siamese Mix
I was brought up in a “dog family” and always believed
that cats were strange creatures and I didn’t understand or like them much.
In fact I didn’t have much time for animals at all if truth were to be known.
Then in 1984 I was very reluctantly made the caregiver to Miki a spunky
and beautiful 6-week old Siamese-mix kitten.
I fell in love within an hour and so began the purest love and the longest
commitment of my whole life.
She was unusually beautiful with Siamese colouring and markings
but tabby shaped face and body. She was also very intelligent and very verbal.
She loved to hear me tell stories about her and her favorite was an explanation
of her unusual beauty hence the title of this story.
Her intelligence and ability to communicate with me never failed to amaze me.
She has been my most outstanding teacher teaching me how to love
and nurture and also a profound respect for all animals.
There is a hole in my heart today which I doubt will ever be filled again,
for no-one or nothing can ever take my Mick’s place.
She was so special and even in my grief I know I was blessed to have
such an extraordinary soul share her life with me
and I thank her for it.
(I love you my Mickaroocha my wee lassie cat
girl. My heart is broken without you baby.)
