Nick

July 1999

Nick came into my life on January 4 1997.

We met at the pound. He wanted to play ball and I thought

“this dog loves me.” I was right. Nick came home with me that day

and from that day he always was the closest friend.

He saved me from stepping on glass (that I didn’t see).

He went backpacking with me (and never barked once at anyone

any wildlife or any other dogs on the trail).

You could stand in front of Nick and say “Wanta dance”

and he would jumpup and hop around.

You could say “Give me a hug” and he would jump up and

lean-in to you with his paws going to either side of you.

My co-workers listened everyday to another Nick story and

always laughed at his antics. He was the most gentle dog and

friend that I have ever known. There are days that I can’t stop crying.

Nick went most places with me and when he wasn’t allowed

(being a dog) I missed him terribly!

Some people are lucky to find a very special friend.

I was one of those lucky people.

I love you Nick!
