Ranger was a protector. He was always growling at people but in my eyes with good intentions. He in my eyes was protecting those he love. But my mom always thought he loved no one and that he was bound to bite some one’s face off.
Ranger’s ambitions were birds and sqirels. If a bird or sqirel touched the ground he’d be at them in a split second. He sometimes managed to catch one.
The day my grandma got Ranger at 6 weeks she was going to give him to my grandpa. Well he had no idea what to do with the puppy and my grandma said,”What do you want to name him?” Well out of all names my grandpa wanted to name him Dave. My grandma didn’t really think you should name a dog Dave. (niether do I) So they eventually named him Ranger Dave who is my hero.
This is the event in wich Ranger saved my life when I was around 3. One winter at my grandma’s I was outside in the back yard. I was wearing heavy clothes and was dangerously close to the pool and I couldn’t swim. I made a false step and plummeted into the water and sank like a rock. Ranger leaped into the water and grabbed the back of my shirt in his jaws and took me to the stairs where I could (and did) sit and cough like an old hag. My grandparents herd my coughs and wines and rushed outside. I put my arms up towards them and they picked me up and carried me inside. I remember the image of Ranger watching me wagging his tail.
The day Ranger died was sad. He was old and in much pain. My grandma took him in to put down but as soon as his beautiful fur hit the table he knew his time had come and died without any shot.
Every night now when I look at the stares I remember him and the day my life was spared. That’s why I chose the stares for a background and Hero for the song.
I love you Ranger. I’ll never forget you. Cry for you.
Love
