Sparky by Vin & Michele Gann / Mom & Dad, Your Family & Friends

Sparky came to us when she was 3 weeks old, she literally chose us that day as she waddled away from her three siblings to us. It was truly a mutual love at first sight.
In 1988 we were in our early forties so Sparky was with us through the best times in our lives and the worst. She was here with us when both our childredn married and our two grandchildren, George and Nikki, were born. Sparky put up with all that our two toddler grandchildren could dish out.

Sometime annoyed by the antics of the two little ones she was always the first to greet them when they visited. Everyone was welcomed into our home by Sparky wether it be friend or stranger, a watch dog she wasn’t but she made up for it in so many other ways. She was with us when one by one our parents died and other dear friends and relatives joined the Passing Parade. Always there to comfort us when we were sad and rejoice with us at happy times. She was there when Michele came down with encephalitis in 1992. Sparky was able to visit her in the rehabilitation hospital – these visits gave Michele so much hope and she completely recovered.

Sparky, she was the one constant in our lives always there for us, always faithful. Last year she started developing cataracts and because of her age her Vet couldn’t help her. Joint pain prevented her from running or going down a few steps – hearing loss began to take its toll on her too. Still up to her last day, nearly blind, she always found one of us sitting at our side ever faithful and loving. She could hear if lifted her ear and talked directly into the opening – she so loved to hear us tell her we loved her you could almost see her smile, just a little attention went a long way with this Gentle Soul never did she complain.

A week before she died she developed intestinal problems – the Vet said to give her a little Pepto and if it was little intestinal flu it would pass. Well we gladly cleaned up after her that week she never seemed to be in pain but we took her to the Vet on Nov. 11th. We were hoping and praying for one more Birthday, one more Christmas but sadly it was not to be. I held her as the Vet put her to sleep. It was the hardest thing we ever had to do. She passed so peacefully and I swear as she did her eyes seemed to lose their cataract haze and I saw myself in those loving eyes one last time. Sparky lived 16 years, 8 months and 5 days. We know she had a long and wonderful life but we would have gladly given some of our time on this earth if she could have been with us a little longer.
Who ever reads this we thank you she truly was a wonderful gentle soul and Our time here was much more Splendid because of a Dog our son named SPARKY!
